Report of the 3rd VPA Main Meeting
Phan Thiet City
29 - 30 November 2001

1. Pursuant to Te VPA Annual Meeting held on 5-6 November 2000 in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province, The 4th VPA Main Meeting was hosted by Ben Nghe Port on 29 - 30 November 2001 in Phan Thiet City.
2. The Meeting was attended by 80 delegates from 32/34 members ports. List of Delegates appears as Annex I.
3. The Meeting warmly welcome to

• Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, General director of Vinalines, Chairman of Vietnam Shipowner Association

4. The Meeting was also attended by representatives of sponsors such as Liebherr, Unico Handles, KE/MP, Intraco Limited.

5. The Meeting received congratulatory flower basket of CIENCO 6

6. Before opening the Meeting, all delegates and guest visited and paid floral tributes to Uncle Ho at the historical Duc Thanh School, Phan Thiet.

7. Following the introduction part of Organizer, Mr. Tran Van ON, chairman of 3rd Executing Committee in the term of 1999 - 2000 read the report.

8. Meeting warmly welcome new members in 2001 as Cua Viet Port, Ba Ngoi Port, Ky Ha Quang Nam port.

9. Mr. Huynh Hong Vu, VPA General Secretariat read the report on VPA activities in the last term and proposed plans and budgets in 2002.

10. The Meeting notes the speeches given by:

• Da Nang Port: "Overview of activities, expanding and upgrading projects at Da Nang Port"

• Ben Nghe Port: "The role of VPA"

• Introduction of main sponsor: Liebherr - Singapore

12. The Meeting notes speeches given by representatives of Nghe Tinh Port, Qui Nhon Port, Quang Binh Port, Can Tho Port, Cam Pha Port, Pilotage Corporation of First Zone (PILOTCO I) on operation activities of each port, infrastructure management, tariff charges, competing services and the role of VPA.

13. Pursuant to the ideas of 3rd Executing Committee, The Meeting approved the term of Executing Committee was 3 years instead of 2 years

14. Pursuant to the report at preparatory meeting on 28 September 2001 at office of Saigon Port, The Meeting agreed unanimously  to add 2 members in the 4th Executing Committee. Therefore, the 4th Executing Committee will have 11 members instead of 9 ones in 3rd Executing Committee.

Main contents was conferred and approved at the Meeting as follows:

15. Agreed with the report of 3rd Executing Committee.

16. Approved the proposed budget and program in 2002.

17. Accepted the term of the 4th Executing Committee was 3 years.
