IATA:
The acronym for the International Air Transport Association.
ICC:
Acronymn for the International Chamber of Commerce.
Implementation Guideline:
A publication listing messages that are in use in a particular
industry, or a particular application, and indicating how the
information in those messages should be presented. A good
implementation guideline will do this on a segment by segment, and
data element by data element basis., indicating which segment and data
element is needed, which ones need not be used, and what code values
will be expected in the application of that particular message.
INCOTERMS:
Standardized terms, generally presented as an acronym e.g.,"FOB" or
"CIF", that are a short hand way of expressing contractual obligations
of parties to an international sale.
Interactive EDI:
The use of EDI in a transaction processing environment.
Interactive:
A program that is able to carry on a "conversation" with the operator.
The program prompts the operator helping the user through a routine
while checking input for acceptability and notifying the operator when
an error is made.
Interchange:
An electronic grouping of EDI transmission data, exchanged between
trading partners. An interchange consists of electronic business
documents such as purchase orders, invoices, acknowledgments, etc.
Interchange Agreement:
Another term for Trading Partner Agreements.
International Chamber of Commerce:
A Paris-based organization that has played a significant role in the
use of EDI in international commerce. The ICC has affiliated member
organizations in most of the countries of the world.
Integrators:
Businesses providing air transportation of goods on the basis that
they pick up from the consignor and deliver to the business premises
of the consignee.
ISO:
Acronym for the International Standards Organization, an International
organization working with the United Nations that maintains standards
for all applications of technology for global industry.
ISDN (Integrated Service Digital Network):
Based on digital transmission, a network that allows voice and data
traffic to use the same digital links and exchanges.
