Pedi:
An interim term for the standards describingthe provision of EDI over
X.400 (X.435 or F.435)
Pilot Project:
Project of two or more EDI trading partners to test the viability of a
proposed EDI SYSTEM.
Private Network:
A network established and operated by a private organization or
corporation for users within that organization or corporation.
Protocol:
Formal set of rules governing the format, timing, sequencing, and
error control of exchanged messages on a data network; may be oriented
toward data transfer over an interface, between two logical units
directly connected, or on an end-to-end basis between two users over a
large and complex network.
PTT (Postal, Telegraph and Telephone Agencies):
A generic name for government agency responsible for operating a
nation's communications services and systems.
Public Network:
Generically, a network operated by commoncarriers or
telecommunications administrations for the provision of
circuit-switched, packet-switched, and leased-line circuits to the
public.
